I’ve been thinking of making a blanket for a while. I live in an old house and it’s sometimes rather cold. Additionally, I’ve collected a lot of left-over sock yarn over the years. So I started this blanket. The garter stitch patches are quite addictive to make, but I’m still not sure if I’ll like the finished product … it’s going to be VERY colourful, what with all the multicoloured yarn I’ve left from my first attempts at sock knitting. But then again I’m not sure I’ll even finish it, the original has over 100 patches! I’ll probably make a smaller blanket, but still I have a lot of work before me!

I’ve admired this blanket on Ravelry, but I use any sock yarn I have to make shawls. I think it would be handy in thicker yarn too, but sock yarn colours would really cheer up dull winter days, so I’m sure yours will be lovely, no matter how far you get. You can always add another row of squares next winter…
Yes, that’s true, I can treat it more as a longer long-term project. 🙂 I was actually thinking about making the blanket in a thicker yarn, but I do have a lot more left-over sock yarn than, say, aran weight.
It’s nice to have an easy, no-pressure project to relax with in between…
