I hope everyone is having a happy Easter weekend!
As you can see, we decided to colour eggs and bake a Gugelhupf, the whole Easter shebang. Today I’m just going to rest though and try to recover from the start of the new semester. That’s why I’ve been AWOL recently, too … need to get used to actually doing work again! 😉 That plus the death of my router and a rather embarrassing accident where I ran head-on into a glass pane, result: a bump in the head and a nasty headache for a few days.

I’m too lazy to sew or knit anything right now (in fact, I’d like to go back to bed and sleep), but I want to show you something I made years ago when I started sewing. It’s one of the bajillion garments with polka dots that I own, because polka dots are awesome PERIOD. You can really see that I had no idea what I was doing back then, even with the help of a circle skirt tutorial I found on the internets (would link to it, but I can’t find it anymore). The hemline’s all wonky and I had to replace to zipper last year because I had totally fucked up when putting it in. Funnily enough, I wear it ALL THE TIME. It might just be my most worn self-made garment next to the casino skirt, because a) separates are so much easier to incorporate into your wardrobe and b) did I mention polka dots?! It’s really cool in summer, as well, because I lined it.
This is my cue to post my pledge for Me-Made-May ’14! I’ve followed me-made challenges from the sidelines for a while and never thought I could pull it off myself. That’s silly, of course, so I decided to get over myself this year.
I, Konstanze @ Tangled Up In Blue (tabeakatharina.wordpress.com) sign up as a participant of Me-Made-May ’14. I endeavour to wear at least one handmade item each day for the duration of May 2014.
Exciting! Should be entirely possible thanks to handmade shawls, scarves and skirts. Don’t worry, though, I won’t annoy you with “what I wore today” posts every single day of May, but I might snap a picture every day and then post them collectively on a weekly basis. 🙂

Thank you for your well-wishes. 🙂 It took a few days until it stopped hurting, but by now I’m fine again! Haha, I was sooo proud of that green egg, the colour was so awesome. 😀

Happy Easter! I hope your head is feeling better (my head is constantly covered in bumps too, so I totally feel your pain!) and you have eaten lots of gugelhupf (what a great word!)! I love your skirt! Circle skirts are the best!
It IS a great word, isn’t it? It so funny, it just makes me smile – even though it basically just means something like “hood(ed) yeast”, as Wikipedia tells me. Let’s just disregard that, how boring.
I could totally live with a wardrobe consisting solely out of circle skirts and some tops, by the way! 😀

I also baked a yeast cake similar to yours for Easter called "babka"(same shape) but mine didn't include any alcohol, I must change it next time! *^0^*

I really love all the different names this cake has, I actually tried to memorize all of them from the Wikipedia entry. In Romania it’s called “guguluf”, isn’t that great?
It looks like I am a stripes and tartan freak. *^o^* I must polka dots to this madness!
