It’s been a while, huh? I’m sorry that I’m showing you these pictures only now, and that there are so few. I do think these three are super fun, though! For those who’ve only been reading this blog for the last couple of months: My friend Neko of NF Fantasy and I did a partner cosplay at a local anime convention. We’ve spent countless evenings binge-watching Disney movies so that we can voice-act some of them by heart (if you spend a few hours in a car with us, chances are you’ll get to hear a moving duet rendition of “I Won’t Say (I’m in Love)“), so we decided on cosplaying Pocahontas and Human!Meeko.
I used Sewaholic’s Cambie pattern for Pocahontas’ dress. I’ve written about the modification process here and here. I’m happy with the result, even though the lack of the brutally chopped off right sleeve doesn’t make this dress suitable for every day use. After using a safety pin to attach the dress to my bra, it held up successfully for the day. That’s all I asked for, really!
I was a bit shy at the photoshoot. When I do pictures for this blog, I’m usually looking for quiet spots outside so it’s only the photographer and me. At the convention there were of course more people – Neko’s friends, other convention goers, random passers-by – which made me feel mildly terrified. The photographer was super nice and understanding, though! Overall it was a really positive experience. A couple of people even asked to take my picture! My favourite moments however were the little kids who were absolutely overwhelmed to see Pocahontas in real life! It was just so touching and cute! 😀
