Guys, I need help.
Is there any easy way to make the sleeves smaller? I haaaaaaaaaaaate how huge the puffed sleeves are, but I don’t have the time to cut new, smaller sleeves. If anyone has any ideas, I’d be so grateful!
(Don’t mind the skirt hem, it’s not done yet. :P)

Smaller, as in narrower? Have you tried (basting) a wider seam allowance?
I was wondering if that could work. I’ll have to try that … Thanks for your input! 🙂
It can work, just copy the armscye/slleve cap part you end up chopping off. You know, that flatter part of the curve, as this gives you your movement range. If you have another sleeve pattern that fits, I’d do an estimation/copy of the sleeve cap shape. This is indeed the trickiest part of changing sleeve design.
Oh, gosh! They are rather Disney Princess! If I were you, I would take the time to re-cut them, as you need to use a smaller sleeve pattern overall, not just taking it in at the seams. But at a real push, I would unpick the lower half of the armhole seam only (the bottom ‘smile’), take it in loads, then re-set them in the armhole (measuring the stitch line of the sleeve head to ensure that it is the same as the armhole.)
I was thinking they were too wide – needed to be narrower – too, like thenaughtybun said. I would try comparing this sleeve pattern piece to another that you like better and see where this one is too wide. That is a beautiful dress & fabric by the way!
[…] original pattern had these horribly puffy sleeves, if you remember, which is why I didn’t finish it in time. You were wise to suggest to switch out the sleeve […]
