… which I’ll hopefully have ready in time!
When I was a young and energetic woman, I used to knit so many of my Christmas gifts, but at 33 going on 80 I’ll knit only for a very select sample of people. Two, to be precise. This isn’t necessarily because my handmade knitwear is that exclusive and luxurious. It’s mostly because schedule and chronic pain allow for only little knitting time, so I want to spend it on the people that I know will appreciate and wear my gifts.
Firstly, I’m making socks for my uncle. He always wears my socks at home. Plus, he’s had a really hard year and deserves warm, toasty feet. He prefers muted colours of black, brown or blue and (alas) a simple pattern. I think the Fidget Socks by Amy Stringer and might fit the bill, right?

I also want to knit something for my mom. I’ve previously knit her a scarf, mittens and a headscarf. This year I thought a cowl in a bulky yarn like Jen Geigley’s GAP-tastic Cowl might be a good idea. She’s helping my father deliver newspapers in the morning and needs something for the freezing cold!

In case you’re wondering: no, I haven’t really started yet. I don’t even have the yarn yet. What’s better than a little bit of pressure to get things done, right?!
